Tested over 40 RPZ Valves this week , 15 of them shouldn`t have been fitted as the fluid category risk at point of use was 5 and the RPZ only provides protection up to fluid category risk 4 .
This is the problem
The RPZ VALVE is protecting a hose union bib tap within the WC Area and is used by the cleaners to fill buckets and swill down the WC area . Urinals , WC`s and drain are a fluid category risk 5 . The risk is a hose can be attached and this could go into the urinal , floor drain , WC or into the cleaners bucket which may contain harmful chemicals used in cleaning .
The solution is to remove the RPZ Type BA Device , fit a Double Check Valve Type EC or ED Device and bib less tap away from the urinals and attached a sign above the tap stating "Filling purposes only , No hoses to be attached"
If you have been instructed to have an RPZ Valve fitted or you are not sure what your options are or you need a test please contact us daleyplumbing@gmail.com or 07977 907351 with your details .
